I made cookies today: They're called "Okies." Now I'm sitting at my desk, eating Okie cookies and reading your Okie papers. Very fitting.
Here is the recipe, if you'd like it. Very easy to make.
1/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. milk
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. coffee
Mix all together. Roll into small cookie-sized balls. Put on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-15 minutes. Yum!

P.S. The recipe for tried-and-true Okie coffee--same as cowboy coffee--is as follows:

1.Pour a gallon of water into a metal bucket.
2.Add one pound of coffee.
3.Place over a campfire and bring to a boil.
4.After an hour, drop in a horseshoe.
5.If the horseshoe sinks, add more coffee.
